Xenophilia - this is a psychological concept, which in translation from the Greek language means inclination and love for unknown people and things, as well as for untried feelings. Xenophilia is opposite in its meaning to xenophobia. Xenophilia often has an intimate interpretation and means a penchant for unusual sexual partners (for example, craving for complete strangers or members of another race), preferring intimate pursuits in unusual places and paraphilia of various kinds.
Under paraphilia understand the state in which the sexual arousal and satisfaction of the individual depend on unusual intimate objects and experiences. With paraphilia, arousal may occur from an unusual object, for example, it may be: underwear, children, animals, or an unusual action: shameless phone calls, causing pain. The object of paraphilia is usually unchanged and specific. Such behavior in the people is called perversion, and an individual with a penchant for paraphilia is referred to as a pervert. The definition of paraphilia is considered abusive and offensive by the term, which causes emotional trauma to people with sexual deviations.
Xenophilia, what is it? At present, xenophilia is interpreted as love for everything foreign, namely for foreigners and the perception of a different culture, as better than their own. This is a pathological attachment to foreign dishes, tastes, products, fashions, religions, art, statements, ideas, opinions.
Xenophilia often accompanies liberal democracy and liberalism, which questions national and racial differences between people. Life itself has proven the phenomenon of xenophilia. There are radical changes in the ethnic self-consciousness of peoples, which are expressed in the heightened interest of ethnic groups in their culture, history, language and traditions. However, the growth of ethnic identity often takes the form of causing a negative attitude to other ethnic groups, the rejection of their traditions, culture, language, evasion from communicating with them until the expression of open hostility. In the scientific world, this phenomenon is called ethnocentrism.
Since cultural values originate and are formed on the basis of the experience of peoples and the selection of their behaviors, current and past cultures are different. Some peoples treated wars as a noble human activity. Other ethnic groups hated her, and representatives of the third had no idea about her. In accordance with the rules and regulations of one culture, femins have the right to marry their relative, but the norms of another culture strongly prohibit it. Our culture of hallucination refers to the symptoms of mental illness. Other societies regard mystical visions as the highest form of consciousness. Therefore, there are so many differences between cultures and even a cursory contact with several cultures shows that the differences between them are not counted. It is also difficult to identify common features that will be common to all cultures.
Sociologists have identified more than 60 cultural universals. These include body decoration, sports, dancing, joint work, funeral rituals, hospitality, education, the custom of giving gifts, incesting bans, language, jokes, religious rituals, attempts to influence the weather, the manufacture of tools.
Some anthropologists believe that the formation of cultural universals occurs on the basis of biological factors. These include helpless babies, having two sexes; the need for warmth and food; age differences between individuals, the assimilation of different skills. Therefore, there are problems that should be solved on the basis of this culture. Certain ways of thinking and values are also universal. In every society, lies are condemned and murder is forbidden. All cultures contribute to meeting specific social, physiological, and psychological needs. Often, other cultures are judged in society from the position of the superiority of their own culture. This trend is called ethnocentrism.
In any form of manifestation of ethnocentrism destructively affect inter-ethnic contacts, therefore, the study of this phenomenon is a necessity, especially in modern conditions.
The opposite concept of ethnocentrism is xenophilia. Xenophilia often questions national and racial differences between people.
Xenophilia argues that the key to the existence of human modern society is the mixing of peoples and cultures under the banner of liberal democracy. The ideology and theory of xenophilia, inherent in the cosmopolitan intelligentsia, explains the rejection of national cultures and traditions, denying national and state sovereignty in the name of "universal human values"; proclaims human freedom in all areas of life as a necessary condition for the development of the economy and society.
Xenophilia rapidly began to develop in the second half of the twentieth century. floor. XXI centuries, it often accompanies the movement for the unification of the world and individual regions on a federal basis with a global and common government.
Xenophilia moves people to rallies, and after rally passions people have anger. Xenophiles are often hidden behind patriotic rhetoric. The main enemy of xenophiles is the distinctive nation and sovereign state. The passion for destruction is based on the conviction that liberalism embodies the dream of mankind about personal freedom and the triumph of private interest over public. It seems to them that they by nature have the right to destroy everything that seems to them as an obstacle to the free expression of selfish views and the pursuit of their anti-social goals. Their hostility turns pathological. For xenophiles, an alien civilization becomes loved and dear. Therefore, with the extremist ruthlessness, the national “own”, the historical, which is still recently rejected, is rejected and discredited.
