Intelligence is a whole set of characterological, mental, and social personality traits that contribute to meeting the expectations of society, which are presented to members of a cultural society and other members of its highest part. Human intelligence implies a high level of mental and cognitive processes, which allows a person to evaluate and make his own judgments about various spheres of human manifestation. It is also a certain personal maturity, which is responsible for the ability of independent decision-making, the presence of his point of view on the concept of the world order. Of the characterological features, human intelligence is manifested in reliability and tolerance, nobility, accordance of thoughts, words and actions, as well as the presence of active interest in culture, history and art.
What is intelligence?
An intelligent person expresses his personal dignity in the professional and social sphere, striving to achieve the best results and to provide his activities with benefits for humanity to the extent to which the chosen specialization allows it. The concept of decency and honor is inseparable from intelligence and is manifested in the adequacy of actions, orientation to their own meanings and values, non-susceptibility to external influence, correctness towards others, regardless of their position and behavior.
The intelligentsia is a special community of people engaged in mental work, seeking to accumulate and systematize existing knowledge, as well as their further transfer and the discovery of new experience. The desire of a person to submit his own intellectual and sensual experience of reflexive analysis, the ability to notice details and patterns, to strive for knowledge and non-depleting curiosity can be characterized as internal intelligence. This also includes the presence of high internal values in maintaining the moral and ethical qualities and manifestations of humanity.
Internal intelligence is impossible without a broad outlook and a great deal of internal experience, as well as constant openness to the new. There is no place for dictatorship that in the behavior of other people, in their preferences, traditions and beliefs are not condemned. Before making a conclusion about someone, an intelligent person will try to fully understand the motivation of a person in a particular act, and if the action turns out to be beyond moral limits, then it is the act that is to be blamed, not the person.
The concept of intelligence appeared to characterize a certain group of people (intellectuals) engaged in mental work, when the number of such people increased compared with ancient times, where physical labor prevailed. When an activity that did not produce a visible and quick result began to actively shape the society and the development of humankind, certain markers appeared for the attribution of man to the intelligentsia. Only intellectually work is not enough, it is necessary that the activity is consistent with the maintenance of cultural values and promotes the development of both an individual (which is vividly represented by the activities of teachers) and large human associations (which concerns the establishment of legislative state law).
In many societies, the concept of intellectuals is replaced by the concept of intellectuals engaged in the same kind of activity, but not claiming to carry the new good meaning to the masses. These people are characterized by greater modesty, a lesser desire to rank people by class and merit, and also provide each person with their own priorities, based on their judgments. At the same time, they continue to develop themselves and develop the surrounding space with their own professional contribution.
And there are quite a lot of similar varieties and branches, which complicates the description of intelligence as a single-valued concept with clear parameters and characteristics. Several centuries ago, for example, even the intelligentsia was divided into certain classes, where there were representatives: the highest intelligentsia, engaged in the social and spiritual sphere, having a rather large influence on the formation of the moral demands of society; average intellectuals also find their application in the social sphere, but their activity is already more practical (if the former see the people, the latter see concrete faces and destinies), these people are directly involved in the implementation of good ideas (teachers and doctors); the lower intelligentsia is also called semi-intelligentsia and is engaged in helping the average, combining physical and social development activities (these are medical assistants, assistants, technicians, laboratory assistants).
But, despite such rude attempts to divide people and intelligence itself on the basis of the activities performed, this turned out to be incorrect and reflects only one aspect of manifestation, whereas innate intelligence can also manifest itself in a person of physical labor and not high intellectual abilities. Here in the first place is the behavior and the ability to analyze what is happening, to draw conclusions, as well as the style of interaction with others. This aspect is closely related to the upbringing, which can be grafted, and may be a consequence of a person’s inner world outlook. And then the signs of intelligence are not the activities performed, but the presence of a person's constant desire for development, the ability to behave with dignity, regardless of the circumstances and whoever is in front of him.
How to become an intelligent person
An intelligent person is able to restrain his emotional manifestations, negative emotions, is able to process them, to extract experience from the mistakes made. Criticism is perceived as a tool for self-improvement, and the presence of self-reliance helps to treat others with respect and tolerance.
The intelligentsia, as a social stratum, does not always contain exclusively intelligent people. Often there are doctors who are rude to people, teachers who do not respect the person, but with such frequency you can meet an exceptionally kind and caring technician or a cultural and auspicious girl who does not have a higher education. To confuse these concepts is a serious mistake, because class division cannot reflect the totality of personal qualities.
Congenital intelligence is not the only factor determining the presence of intelligent manifestations. Of course, some peculiarities of character, congenital mechanisms of the nervous system responsible for the type of response, and the environment of upbringing affect the personality, but this is not a given, but only prerequisites with which it will be either easier or more difficult to absorb the principles of decent behavior. At the same time, how the process takes place depends solely on the person and his motivation, respectively, if you make efforts you can achieve anything.
The basic concepts of intelligence include cultural behavior, goodwill and tolerance towards people and their manifestations, but only on the second stand the breadth of horizons and the ability for global or divergent thinking. Therefore, it is necessary to develop your ability to interact with others, beginning with benevolence, which will attract more attentive and positive views to you. Look in the mirror and evaluate your gaze (it is he who creates the first impression on contact), and if you look gloomy, aggressive, cold, if your mind has a desire to defend or be silent, then you should practice the other. An open, warm, with a slight smile look will arrange a person to you, show that you are ready to interact, and not to attack and conflict. Friendliness in communication is manifested in the culture of communication, which implies the absence of obscene words, respect for personal boundaries (beware of inappropriate questions or unnecessarily direct, especially negative comments). When communicating, set yourself the goal of making a person's day a little better, and then proceed according to the situation - someone needs to be heard, someone will be helped, and tactfulness in not observing blunders will be enough for someone.
A tolerant attitude implies admitting the existence of other points of view, but this does not mean that they should reshape your beliefs. If a person acts against your moral values, show tolerance and do not persist in instructing him on the right path, but keep away from yourself, not allowing your own feelings to suffer. Respect other people's choices and demand respect for yours, but not with hysterics and anger, but with a worthy removal from the source of discomfort.
Expand your knowledge, and for this you do not have to memorize boring textbooks, the world is much broader and more multifaceted, so look for what will be interesting for you. The main thing is to develop and learn new things from a little bit from everywhere, in such cases it is better to go to a concert of a new group than to reconsider the series for the fifth time.
Modesty and sincerity will lead you to a better life, and the ability to live according to your own conscience develops your personality. Try not to weigh yourself with false merit (like artificial diamonds), but to find and develop your strong traits and talents.
