Stages of overcoming a problem through Zen Buddhism meditation

We continue the series of articles devoted to the books "People from the Cabinet" (by Natalya Moskaleva). The series consists of seven parts. The first part has already been published on the Internet. One of the key experiences that is discussed in the books is the overwhelming feeling of "failure." The author overcomes even the most "terrible" pain through meditation ...

In a famous work, all problems are considered as a consequence of some painful feelings that control our reactions. When it comes to a very big experience at the level of "life and death", it can be assumed that the feelings behind it are very strong.

Is it possible to control strong emotions that cause a reaction, which sometimes even contradicts the understanding of the mind? Maybe. Of course, this is not very easy. However, don't let the reader get scared. On the way to our own changes, we overcome only what we are ready to overcome. The function of guarding consciousness from information to which we are not ready takes on the unconscious. That it holds all the "forbidden" secrets that can harm our psyche.

However, to overcome the problem at the root, you will have to reach its very bottom, of what is hidden behind seven seals. The path, of course, is not long. But if the reader has set a goal for himself, if he is tired all his life to obey what spoils his life and is ready to go forward (and what else to do?), Then he has every chance of overcoming it. Moreover, what's the difference what to do if you still live. But there is a difference in how to live ... Continue to suffer from uncontrollable (so far) very strong feelings or take the path of overcoming?

As we know, in order to overcome any inner experience, you must first pull it out of the unconscious, and then it goes into consciousness. And only after the next insight: "My God, what did I do!" the hero is already able to consciously change his behavior. This mechanism was not invented by the owner - this is our nature.

Our consciousness is able to "digest" only what it is ready for. The practice of Zen Buddhism makes it possible to step forward, as it were, even before the consciousness understands what is happening. And also here you should not be afraid. More than one (safe) step will not give our built-in security system - the psyche, blocking the way out of the unconscious.

Through Zen Buddhism meditation, we constantly see and feel what we do not understand (because “understanding” is a function of the mind, but we turn it off exactly!). Thus, together with the supposed awareness of what is happening, the close perception of the senses is turned off. This mechanism forms a kind of “airbag” in those cases in which it seems impossible to live through something that can be compared to a real danger to human life. And although this may seem to be "nonsense" (we are now thinking with the mind), and subconscious reactions that sometimes cause heart palpitations, breath holding and other panic states do create a sense of danger to life. And no understanding of the absurdity of what is happening is able in such cases to at least somehow remedy the situation.

The spectrum of the effects of Zen Buddhism meditation, of course, is not limited to the possibility of solving precisely complex experiences. Here it is more logical to suppose that there is some kind of unlimited influence of the practice of non-thought, by means of which any problem can be overcome - from simple to complex.

How can I reach the state of Nedumyaniya? This is a lot of material written by famous authors. Gives convincing ways, for example, A.Sviyash in the book: "How to be when everything is not what you want," and in a deeper form, V. Zhikarentsev in the book: "Meditation and Concentration."

People often ask a question about a certain similarity of meditation of Nedumaniya from abstraction from a situation. Indeed, these states can be confused: in this and in another, a person does not think about his problem. But there is one very significant difference. In the first case, a person has the strength not to think, but at the same time he sees his problem perfectly, is aware of its presence and a very strong influence on his life. In the second case, the person does not think, because he pretends that there is no problem. This can be called life with eyes closed. In Zen Buddhism, we basically live with open eyes. Zen does not deny anything! Or rather, to say: Zen agrees with everything.

In conclusion of the article, as promised, the stages of overcoming the problem through meditation:

1. Realize: you are driven by some kind of it. It has a cause, a desire, a goal. The well-known influence on you is based on simple human needs that were not once satisfied or demanded in you.

2. Let your sense of being. You need to take it. Realize that this is, firstly, an important part of you, secondly, the manifestation of natural needs, and thirdly, an attempt to make you happy. And pain - a sign that the feeling is not claimed.

Let the feeling flow. Reach a state of harmony next to him. For this you need to relax. As a rule, it is impossible to relax right away and this is normal! Do not give up on the first failure. You didn't quit school when you first got a three or a two? When you experience very strong inner experiences, you cannot calm down immediately and completely. But this is achievable in gradual patient work on oneself. Expel all thoughts of your experience and one day they will leave.

3. Further, now with this feeling you have to live in peace. Do not try to hide from him - still catch up. Do not reduce the effect of pain. Do not abstract - this is, in fact, to hide. It is very important to understand here: in no case, and in no way pay attention to your feeling! Any attention feeds him!

Divide Here I am. Here is the feeling. Make it parallel. The feeling should not devour from the inside, but it lives, hurts, asks. And you see all this, of course, but you have the strength to live your life not controlled by this pain. You kind of live through pain.

This is a very interesting mechanism. The degree of painful impact on the wearer of the feeling decreases as the degree of perception of this feeling decreases. The less you are susceptible to pain, the faster you will get rid of this pain.

You can make a simple analogy. What do you do in cases when, for example, you cut your finger and it hurts, but you need to, say, write with this hand? You take and write, gradually forgetting about your pain and, thus, getting rid of it.

All the same thing happens with other feelings that also hurt, but only in the soul.

4. You need to OBSERVE your feelings, reactions to it and all that happens at this time in the inner world. Observation is an integral part of any meditation.

A sign of the correct observational state: you are aware of your reactions, but at the same time you are able to fall asleep when you go to bed. You see all the experiences as if from the side. The whole picture, the whole spectrum is presented without shadow and fog. Everything is transparent.

But you yourself are like out of events. You are an independent, objective witness.

Turn off thoughts. They interfere. Feelings are needed - their play, behavior, transformation. You are watching a movie from the senses ...

Continued read on - What does Zen Buddhism

The next and last article on Zen Buddhism will tell you about the results that the author was able to achieve (and which are described in the finished parts of the book "People from the Closet"). It would be wrong to present the theory without confirming it in practice. Therefore, the author decided to give this a separate article.
