An outsider is an individual who is not able to achieve professionalism and accomplishments in their activities. This term is borrowed from the English language and means lagging. In simple terms, an outsider is a loser, in which the team plays. In any social group there is such a person who occupies a niche - an outsider. No one wants to get into this niche voluntarily, the group itself appoints an outsider at its discretion. Often a person gets there, much inferior to something else, if there is no such person, it is taken by the newcomer to the team, if this niche is occupied, it moves to the next one. An outsider feels inferior, as well as constrained in their rights.
Regardless whether it is a large or a small social group, it is characterized by a stratification by niches. In a small social group there can be several outsiders at once. The more such personalities against which other members of the group feel their importance and their superiority, the better. But if there is a bust with the number of outsiders, the group will try to limit them by moving the outsider to the main niche. A large number of lagging individuals in the group lowers its status, making it in its own eyes flawed.
Who is an outsider
This is a person who, by his behavior, appearance or character, causes a rejection in the majority of group members. However, this interpretation will not be completely correct. A group is a community of people who differ little from each other. This is not satisfied with the majority of people, since it is important for any individual to feel their importance and uniqueness. Because of psychological comfort, the individual needs the belief that he is a unique person. And if expressed talents or peculiarities are not inherent in him, then one of the simplest ways to exalt oneself would be to belittle the other. Therefore, the presence of an outsider in the group is a profitable and necessary background for the rest, since the team asserts itself at the expense of the laggard, making him a scapegoat. Against the background of such a person, others feel comfortable and confident. An outsider is an “outcast” necessary for a team, and if this place is free, then it will automatically be taken by the one who comes last in the team.
An outsider is a constant value, it is very difficult for such a person to get out of a low-status niche or, for example, to become a leader. To do this, you will have to make considerable efforts and work out your qualities with a psychologist who can give specific advice based on individual human characteristics. Very rarely it happens that a person falls into this low-status niche undeservedly, of course, he has a certain personal quality, which is why he was taken there.
How to foster leadership skills to an outsider
The first thing that a person who occupies a low-status niche needs to do is stop considering himself an outsider.
The second is to specifically define for yourself what leadership is. If there is no knowledge and understanding that the leader is the one who risks and takes responsibility for his life, then getting out of an outsider's niche will not work.
Individuals striving for leadership should be inherent:
- clear ethical principles, honesty, integrity, erudition;
- high professional and personal qualities;
- perseverance, correctness, self-discipline;
- teamwork skills.
Therefore, thirdly, it is necessary to realize that it is the person who determines his life and assumes all the risks, the responsibility, while not relying on anyone.

Then, mentally transfer your dream to today and present the first steps in implementation, based on the experience that already exists. For example, you are an employee of the banking system, but you dream of singing from the stage. What should you do for this? From the bank not to quit, but to start saving money, which will be required for vocal training. Then you look for a vocal teacher and set aside time for regular classes. After this is all presented, you fall asleep.
If in the morning a person wakes up with a good mood, not understanding the reason, then he is already 50% leader! If a person wakes up in a restless state and does not like everything around, then you should work on yourself, in such a state the person is not ready either to take responsibility or risk. It is required to be trained with trifles, from the most insignificant steps. For example, you came to work where you don’t like for a long time what your boss tells you, and you want to transfer some of your functions to another performer, and you want to do something else yourself. If earlier you just complained to your colleagues, you all suffered, now you should write a memorandum, which will professionally present your problem, thus taking the first step towards leadership.
Fifth, the concept of leadership is expressed in the fact that the individual must determine for himself what is his or her external or internal world priority? The world is changing according to laws that do not depend on people, and if a person adapts to them, like a chameleon, orienting himself to the outside world, he will lose himself, will forget what is the meaning of his life. The concept of leadership welcomes philosophical individualism: "the whole world around is the same as inside me." For politicians, bureaucrats, employees in public corporations, the external world is a priority: they adapt, for the sake of money and career.
Sixth, a person must hold the opinion that one can always and everything develop in oneself, the main thing is to possess perseverance and desire, and firmness, charisma, dedication, sociability and passion will only accelerate the process.
Hardness. Difficult situations arise from time to time in the life of each person, and in order to make the right decision, one should show one’s character. Often, in such situations, the degree of perseverance and hardness of character. For a person who does not know how to be firm in dealing with important issues, demonstrating inconsistency, others will never reach out.
Charisma. To develop the charismatic qualities, which consist in attractiveness. To develop it, you should learn to love your life and the people around you.
Devotion. To carry people along, you need to believe in your work and be faithful to him. If it is interesting to you, there will surely be the same personalities who will be carried away by your ideas. You must be able to make personal efforts to achieve the desired goals in the case.
Sociability. It is necessary to develop interpersonal skills - communication skills with various people, you should be able to communicate your ideas to other personalities. It is important not to complicate your speech, to notice individuality in each person, to speak sincerely and insist on a response.
Passion. It develops the will power of the individual. If a person has a desire to achieve something, he will always find the strength to do it, even if you have to sacrifice something. Passion enhances the ability to achieve the goal. Passion changes the world around man.
Leadership is not an easy task for an outsider. According to the concept of leadership, people in the community share three main reasons. They are driven by the desire to learn the right information, to get emotional support, to build business relationships. Thus, leadership in an organization includes three components: informational, emotional, and business.
A person who is capable of recalling a common goal at the right moment and encouraging order is the business leader. With such a person works well, he can organize a business, establish the necessary relationships and business contacts.
A person who has great erudition and is able to convey the necessary information to the rest is the group’s “brain” or information leader.
The person addressed to "cry in the waistcoat", that is, for sympathy is the emotional leader.
In addition to the three types of leadership mentioned above, there is a fourth type - universal. This personality includes all three components. The choice remains for the person himself, what kind of leader he wants to be. The main thing is not to be afraid of difficulties and to adequately overcome them.
