Hype - is one of the forms of hypocrisy, implying the image of piety or piety, the ostentatious desire of a person to adhere to certain norms and the requirement of their observance from other people. At the same time, the hypocrite himself often does not comply with what he declares out loud, he is inclined to apply double standards or to use false piety as a way to justify his inconsistency before the public.
The meaning of the word hypocrisy is close in its perception to duplicity, insincerity, hypocrisy, however, they are not synonymous with these concepts. The main features for the bigot is demonstrative behavior and ideas expressed, excessive emotional intensity in the positioning of its created essence and its difference from the stated virtues. Khanzha usually so strongly clings to his image that the denial of any immoral traits of his own personality becomes the main task, in connection with which his own shadow sides are not recognized at all.
The emergence of the term is closely related to religion, where the promotion of low and unworthy desires of a person was persecuted by the church, therefore many chose the tactic of censuring such manifestations in order not to fall into disfavor. As a result, people remained between the two extremes - they were ranked either as sinners or as goodies. Neither option is optimal, since both close the natural manifestations of man.
What is hypocrisy?
The characteristic of the bigot includes a special set of characterological peculiarities and beliefs, manifested at a conscious or unconscious level. In the case of awareness, a person deliberately uses a mask of piety, which allows him to criticize others or leave his reputation unaffected, while at the same time, this position provides many manipulative possibilities regarding the behavior of others. Conscious aspect of hypocrisy often puts pressure on the feeling of shame or guilt of others, and trying to get rid of intolerable emotions, a person does what the hypocrite inclines to do with his sermons.
Unconscious hypocrisy is based on self-deception, and possibly psychological trauma, the basic meaning of which comes down to the prohibition to be yourself. The recognition of their shadow sides, shortcomings, inconsistencies with the norms imposed by the church or family may not be available to everyone. At a conscious level, a person declares truths about good, but on the fact of doing the opposite, he does the opposite.
Any kind of sanctimonious behavior does not tolerate testing and treats it quite aggressively - a person cannot allow others to doubt his piety, and moreover change his model of self-perception. But at the same time hypocrites are capable of demonstrative repentance, exposing their bad deeds, which in the end creates only a holier image for them. They don’t choose heavy things for publicity and repentance that can really damage their reputations, but they repent of such trifles with such force that there’s nothing in addition to this sin for them to do anything criminal.
Psychologically, this characterological feature arose as a defensive psychological reaction, in order to somehow counter the moral and ethical norms of society. More often we all have certain disadvantages, but the perfect fulfillment of all moral and ethical requirements leads to psychopathology. In order to prevent serious disorders, the psyche uses hypocrisy as a defense, so that it can continue to exist.
This trait arises only in cases when a person himself has crossed the general or his personal law, then in order to avoid his own censure, censure of others can be included. The most ardent preachers are former criminals, and the most pious-sanctimonous ladies are those who had previously led a fairly sexual dissolute life.
Pitch is always about the inconsistency of words with business, forms of content, visible behavior, invisible motives. This person does not have morals, depending on the situation he will manifest himself in various ways. Goodies seek to impose their pious opinion using directive and cruel methods, and the purpose of all this is to protect themselves. If no one goes to a brothel, then there will be no degrading collision with acquaintances, if everyone is brought up in the framework of the absence of theft, then no one will think that from the general budget, others take into their pockets.
Imposed idealisations are not destructive for the bigot itself, because it does not live according to these principles, but they can become destructive for society, and especially for the child’s psyche, formed in such conditions. The impossibility of accepting one's shortcomings, constant condemnation and imposing impossible conditions makes the sacrifice of the hypocrite forever due, unhappy, wrong — self-esteem collapses after such a short time, and then the whole person collapses.
The problem of hypocrisy
The problem of hypocrisy was more acutely considered a century ago, and now with the rise of freedoms and the general tolerance of society, it is gradually moving away into the past. However, its influence turns out to be quite significant, and some moments are transmitted by people as family scenarios, churches continue to keep their old ways, and grandmothers and teachers of retirement age continue to hurt the young psyche with sanctimonious remarks.
It is precisely the perspective of the problematic that was chosen for this behavior, since it gives rise to distrust and suspicion on the part of others, possible social ties are crumbling. And besides the issue of trust that it is possible to solve at the individual level, there is also the problem of manipulating the goodies by other people - which puts this quality in a number of vices at the social level.
Being a moral formalism in its most extreme points of development, hypocrisy is capable of destroying all the value and moral foundations of humanity. An increasing number of manipulations shackles a person into the impossibility of natural, creative manifestations, leaves only one course of action - prescribed by hypocrites. But one cannot say that their manipulative influence and the declaration of noble principles will lead to an increase in the percentage of humanity and tolerance. On the contrary, the lack of internal sensitivity, understanding, forgiveness, as well as living by double standards will eventually lead to collapse.
The solution lies in weakening the influence of various institutions of morality (churches, educational institutions, spiritual mentors) and replacing the concept of cruel punishment for disobedience with the opportunity to atone for their shortcomings, to get help in solving problems. At the family level, it is necessary to create trusting relationships and initially deal with the reasons that led the person to such an act or such state, and only then talk about accepted and acceptable norms.
What distinguishes hypocrisy from hypocrisy
Though hypocrisy and hypocrisy are considered in places to be consonant with notions, they are not identical. So hypocrisy is only a part, one of the directions of various forms of hypocritical behavior.
What these concepts have in common is that a person’s thoughts do not agree with his behavior, moral values have two bottoms and several meanings, that is, how a person evaluates his life, and the lives of others may be completely different. Hypocrisy is often intentional insincerity and secrecy, with practical motives, personal gain, or the avoidance of bad luck. The hypocrite will pretend for the sake of gain or self-satisfaction, but the methods for this maneuver can be used varied. Prudence is always limited by morality and benevolence, that is, any behavior can hide behind a variety of good intentions and good nature.
The hypocrite does not expect high moral actions from people or that everyone else will unconditionally believe his duplicity - he is disappointed in himself and will be disappointed in others. Khanzha, on the other hand, will show initially high demands to his family and acquaintances, moreover, he may demand observance of certain norms from complete strangers and sincerely wonder why others may not comply with the prescriptions of the moral and ethical criteria he promotes.
The hypocrite will show his duplicity in all that concerns the benefit, but the hypocrite will be such only in the moments concerning his inner picture of correctness personally. In the case of a hypocrite, personal goals will be pursued, such as restoring one’s reputation, by reprimanding others, de-identifying with one’s own negative manifestations, and manipulating others. Hypocrites always pursue benefits - gaining good disposition in order to obtain prerogatives, betrayal for the sake of office, material support
